Having seen a need for distant Orthodox Christians in the Finger Lakes region of New York, Holy Apostles Orthodox Church was established in August of 2010 by its mother parish of Ss Peter and Paul Church of Endicott, NY. The parish is a mission of the Diocese of New York and New Jersey of the Orthodox Church in America. We are under the spiritual leadership of His Grace, Bishop MICHAEL, bishop of New York and the Diocese of New York and New Jersey.
We are currently worshiping at the old All Saints Catholic Church in Lansing, NY. The church is at 345 Ridge Road, Lansing, NY, at the intersection of Ridge Road and Myers Road, across the street from the Lansing Middle School. This has enabled us to hold a rich cycle of services from very early in the life of our mission. After a year with rotating clergy, and the leadership of Fr Timothy Holowatch, the mission received its first full time priest in Fr James Worthington. In 2017, Fr James was transferred and Fr Joel Brady assumed pastoral responsibilities at the mission. While our current location has been a wonderful place to start out, we are currently working on acquiring a permanent place of our own.
We are a diverse group of people from many types of Orthodox backgrounds and people just discovering Orthodoxy for the first time. Our congregation includes people of all ages, from the Ithaca area and from as far away as Cortland and Johnson City. Whether you've lived here all your life, are new to the area, or are just in the area for a few years at one of the local universities, we invite you to find your spiritual home at Holy Apostles.
We welcome you to worship with us and experience the beauty and majesty of the Divine Liturgy. We observe the New (Revised Julian) Calendar, and all services are in English, sometimes with small amounts of Slavonic, Greek, or Romanian.
